Illinois Farmers alleges MRI scam

Illinois Farmers Insurance Company has sued Mobile Diagnostic Imaging and 46 chiropractors in federal court for creating a network of medical providers who pay or receive illegal kickbacks for the referrals of patients for MRI scans.   It has framed its complaint to include claims under RICO, the Minnesota Consumer Protection Act, the Minnesota No-Fault act and common law doctrines including fraud and unjust enrichment. Summonses were issued to defendants today.

Illinois Farmers is represented by the law firm Stempel & Doty in Hopkins.

The case has been said to be the largest no-fault case since the law was enacted in 1974.  Illinois Farmers is seeking $1.9 million
