Chris Kluwe has retained Minneapolis lawyer Clayton Halunen to represent him in the upcoming investigation of the Minnesota Vikings. The investigation is in response to Kluwe’s allegations of homophobia and discrimination by the Vikings in a recent article in Deadspin. See, “Robins lawyers Magunson and Madel to investigate Chris Kluwe’s claims.” In a press release, Kluwe said the investigation is “honorable” and that hiring Halunen does not portend a lawsuit.
“I want the truth to come out from the investigation, not in litigation,” Kluwe said in a press release.
What Kluwe says he wants, more than anything, is “to ensure that everyone, and especially sports leaders who are role models to millions of people, respect the humanity of everyone by not belittling or denigrating people.” For starters, all professional sporting organizations should institute a zero tolerance policy for bigotry and discrimination against members of the LGBT community, Kluwe asserts.
The Vikings deny the allegations.
