Dean Reassures Students After Rankings Nosedive

The dean of Hofstra Law on Thursday distributed a letter to students and faculty on Thursday morning to express his alarm about the school’s poor showing in the U.S. News & World Report’s just-released rankings. Hofstra fell 24 spots to 113th place, one of the steepest dives of any school. The Long Island institution was among a number of schools that were ranked more poorly this year, the first time the magazine incorporated more detailed job placement data since reporting standards were tightened. “As a new Dean and faculty member for 36 years, I  understand the impact these rankings have on members of the Hofstra Law community and I am greatly concerned,” wrote Eric Lane, who was hired several months ago. . . . .
