VSB council member injured by home intruder

Former Virginia Public Safety Secretary O. Randy Rollins was hospitalized after being stabbed by an intruder in his home Monday, according to a news account.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports Rollins, a member of the Virginia State Bar Council, was expected to be released from a hospital Wednesday after treatment of injuries said to be “not life-threatening.”

A police report indicated Rollins discovered the intruder in his Richmond home and was stabbed several times before getting the man out of the house.

Rollins was elected to the VSB Council in 2009 and is serving his second term representing the 13th Judicial Circuit, according to the VSB.

Rollins, a retired lawyer, served as public safety secretary during the administration of Gov. L. Douglas Wilder. He is founder and president of Drive-To-Work, a nonprofit corporation that helps to restore driving privileges for low income people so they can remain employed. He is a retired partner with McGuireWoods and owns and farms Blue Knob Farm in Henry County, according to a biography published by the VSB.
